Membership
Membership is something you have to pay for with real money. You can buy a membership for a certain periods of time: 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months.
With membership you are entitled to do a lot more in Club Penguin such as buy clothing, buy pet Puffles, furniture items for your igloo. You can access the Club Penguin membership page

Club Penguin Map
The map is located at the bottom right of the screen. The map is the primary way of travel to different locations on the island, as well as the spy phone.
Clicking on the locations on the map will teleport you to is location. e.g clicking on the lighthouse will take you to the lighthouse location.
Thats the basic idea of how it works. I could of gone into much more detail, but I would of left you reading forever.
